The Flood Competence Centre
About HKC e.V.
The HKC e.V. pursues non-profit objectives to promote science and research, as well as education, consulting and awareness-raising in all matters relating to flood and heavy rainfall risk management.
To implement this holistic approach, the HKC develops, shares and connects expertise at all levels: from universities and national and international institutions to municipalities, planning offices, manufacturers of protective materials, and people directly affected, as well as citizens’ initiatives.
Board of directors
The Board of Directors consists of twelve members from academia and industry.
Management
At the HKC office, you will find competent contact persons for topics related to flood and heavy rainfall risk management, flood and heavy rainfall protection measures, self-preparedness, and media relations. HKC projects are initiated and supported by the management team.
Advisory council
The promotion of science and research, as well as education and training in all matters relating to flood and heavy rainfall risk management, is the declared objective of the HKC. In practice, this objective is pursued in particular through the development and implementation of projects, which are prepared and coordinated in terms of content and organization within the Advisory Council. The Advisory Council consists of members of the HKC. The body is broadly based and brings together representatives from practice, citizens, companies, and academia.
