Flood Day in Dortmund

On November 8, 2023, the DWA Flood Day will be held in Dortmund in cooperation with Emschergenossenschaft/Lippeverband. Under the title "Floods and heavy rainfall in densely populated urban areas", the views of water management and disaster control will be presented and discussed in detail.
Particularly in the case of extreme discharges, beyond the dimensioning of technical protection systems, the close cooperation of these actors and the operational aspects are of decisive importance. The flood of the Ahr valley in 2021 once again impressively demonstrated this to all of us. The lectures will report on these experiences as well as on approaches to effective risk communication. For the first time, there will be a panel discussion in which important insights will be elaborated together with the audience.
This year's Flood Day is dedicated to technical flood protection measures on the Upper Rhine.
