Fire brigade project weeks in the Wartburg district

30. Oct 2025

As part of the fire brigade project weeks in the Wartburgkreis district, the HKC was represented for the first time with a flood prevention station – and inspired children with practical exercises on personal preparedness and emergency planning.

From 15 August to 11 September 2025, this year's fire brigade project weeks for fourth graders in the Wartburg district took place at the Immelborn Fire Brigade Technical Centre – a format that has been successfully inspiring young people to take an interest in fire safety since 2007. This year, the HKC was there for the first time with a station on flood prevention. The children developed their own emergency plans, put together an ‘emergency backpack’ and learned in a playful way how to behave correctly in the event of flooding. Supported by around 100 volunteers and the local fire brigades, the project weeks offered a successful combination of practical experience, team spirit and awareness-raising for civil protection.
